Mony Method

I want to change the world. But among thousands of kids who’re all reading the same books, the same papers, accepting the same ideas, how do you do that?

I believe the answer, for me, is the Mony Method. This is an experiment with my life, no one has ever tried this, and I know it’s going to take a lottttt of work, but well, I can’t see myself doing what everyone does, and more importantly, this seems fun, so this is what my life is now.

I mean ig i’ll explain this with an example, take AI
When people were inventing the field, there’s probably 10 major decisions that people took, and like 50 minor ones. When you just go the standard route, reading books and doing courses, you inherit all the ceilings. I hate ceilings.

I mean really thing about it, these 10 decisions right, there’s no fucking way it’s possible that the decisions that people have made, they are all the optimal decisions.

So when I am going to learn about AI, I’m going to start from completely zero principles. Going to question every decision, maybe I’ll work and think about the problems and come to the same conclusion as the rest of the world for the first 5 decisions, but maybe at the 6th decision I come to a diferent conclusion, go a different way and maybe that changes this field forever.

But I mean what is the method, what does this mean concretely, I mean obv I’m figuring this out on the go to, there’s no fixed set of rules, I’m just going on a wild ride but yeah there are some things I’m doing….
Ok so the thing is if you wanna follow the Mony method, you gotta be first off insanely smart, and then you gotta have so much self belief and so much conviction in yourself, and then you gotta work hard, extremely hard, literally dedicate yourself entirely to the work, anything less and the dream won’t work.

I mean I guess let’s go one by one and talk more about how I’m actually doing this:

Insanely smart: I mean this is obv right, You need to be actually goated at problem solving if you’re doing this. Like you gotta be able to solve research level problems and know theory etc too. So the way I’m doing this is, whatever book I read, I reprove everything myself. Literally everything. Like the best example I think is what I did with enumerative combinatorics stanley book. Like I go through the book, I look at like the results, like what they’re trying to prove by flipping through, and then I look at like the basic definitions, and then I try to prove everything about it, and make up new conjectures (I gotta figure out how to handle the making conjectures part) and like prove alll the results myself. Like for example, in stanley, I read that there’s two permutation statistics (if you dont know what this is, just ignore) inv and maj, and then I looked at the definition, just the basic definition of what these are. Then I thought about these for a while, after which I flipped through the book and saw some results, like yk say these are equidistributed. These are joint symmetric distributed. etc etc, then just thinking about these problems, knowing nothing else about this, I just proved these results myself (ive proven the equidistributed thing, jsd is still to be done)… like i thought about conjectures, wrote code, made more conjectures, proved them, and finally proved the result. This is exactly how I’m going to read every single book. cos this is like perfect practice right. I’m going to reprove every theorem, make conjectures, maybe find new ways to prove stuff or maybe rediscover math people have done already. even when i read papers, im going to do the same thing, just read through and try to prove stuff myself. I’m initially going to be reproving known stuff but pretty soon we gone be in uncharted territory haha. I think im also going to have to study some techniques at some point tho, like probability or stats or multivar or wtv, so ig those things I will just study like a normal kid, cos you do need the tools too….

The second is conviction: I mean think about it, the smartest people in the world made these decisions of how to go about it. There’s so many smart people who are all researching in the same direction. That is the safe choice, like I could prolly do that and make some progress there too like other smart kids… You need so much self belief to be able to be like no, im going to go my own way, don’t really care what 50 years of research dictates… I mean yeah it requries self belief, but that’s the best thing about me, I think I’m the best ever. I belive I’m the smartest kid ever, or like more importantly, i refuse to believe anyone else in this world is smarter than me. So like when you believe you’re the best ever, ofcourse you’re ok with question decisions, cos aint no way this random guy got all these decisions correct right. the world is literally built by people no smarter than me, so I don’t really care what the “standard” way to do stuff is or what “smart” people or “authority” says you should do cos im smarter than all of you ;)

And then finally, insanely hard work: I mean it’s quiet obv that this will take much more work than the normal way. It’s also going to be much slower. But I don’t have time, I need to dropout of IIT Delhi and be the best ever man. I don’t wanna wait around too long, I can’t take too long. So if i’m not gonna sacrifice on my goals, and i’m not sacrificing on my preparation levels, then I gotta sacrifice everything else, and that’s completely fine with me. I really do not care about anyhting else anyways, like I’m truly my happiest only when I’m working really hard, when I’m pushing myself and making progress… I’ve already decided I want this… I mean one thing is, sometimes when I look at cool people I’m dissapointed when I see that they have distractions or they don’t work that hard. I mean ok, I don’t really care what everyeone else does but I also wanna be someone that kids in the future can look back to and say oh so that’s what it took. I mean I wanna be an example of what happens when you’re just completely locked in, when the entire point of your life is just working hard. The Mony Method requires insanely hard work and complete dedication and I just wanna have fun, and this is the only fun thing for me. I’m going to be an example of what happens when you actually work your absolute hardest. btw even when I have billions of dollars, im not going to change, im going to remain this locked in and no distractions. That’s a promise.

Well yeah, so guys basically, this is going to be such a wonderful journey man, literally this is going to be legendary. This blog post I’m going to make sure is legendary.

Mony Method huh
