I was sitting in LH121 during the exam. man I'm really really really fucking done with this shit. like really so fucking done. I was just thinking about my gurgaon times, the day before INMO, my lucknow times, where i just sat with MONT, 104NT, my first Olympiad problem etc. etc. like that is the reason why I am as smart as i am. I really owe it to that kid to get everything iver ever wanted bruh. also I was so done with this shit i just walked out of the exam. im genuinely done. So before next year starts, i need to have done shit. cos i cant do college no more. So I have 5 months to get this shit now. 5 Months. it starts now. like it genuinely starts right fucking now man lets go.

I wanna tell my Number Theory exam story, cos it was quiet cool.
there were 5 questions, apparently this course only has 4 ppl lmao. And I havent been to a single class since the first class. so when i walked in, the prof (Amitabha Tripathi whos really famous on quora btw) was likw u in this class? im like yah so he looked sorta disgusted, but still like js said ok pick up a paper and do it. he was talking to the other prof like kids dont come to classes and think they can do midsem or some shit. So yeah i mean ofcourse i solved all 5 problems.
After the 2 hours were up, and like the other prof left (they were taking a difference exam), he was like how much extra time do you want? take as much as you want. cos ig he expected us to have not done many problems. then a kid was like no sir, you can take the papers, even extra time wont help me solve these problems. he was like yeah thats the thing with tough problems lmao. then when we submitted, and were discussing how many each person did, so like apart from me, the max number of problems anyone solved was 1. lmao. mogged.

I told sir I solved all, he seemed surprised. talked to me about a few of my solutions. He's a really nice prof btw, like i knnew him from quora and he seems really cool. but yeah, i was explaining him some solutions, but he was like nah i dont think thats right, im like it is, hes like how you know? i said cos i proof checked lmao.
My really cool solutions were the $\sigma(n)+\phi(n) \ge 2n$ where i used rearrangement inequality and induction. and also the QR problem was really cool cos i didnt know much about QR's at all lmao. so i rederived everything. I mean yeah.
then he was like do you want me to drop you to the hostel i was like okay.
then the convo was something like this: P=Prof, M=mony
P: why dont you come to class
M: cos i already know everything ur teaching
P: no not really. im teaching QR and stuff too
M: yeah i know it
P: how
M: cos ive done olympiads
P: no olympiad does not have theory
M: it does now
P: but still you wont know proofs
M: i do
P: still theres point in coming to class, you might think u know everything but you dont know
M: yeah sure i will come to class from now...
P: ur in biotech right
M: yah
P: ur cgpa must be what 7.5?
M: yeah its 7
P: yeah it shows. this will happen if you dont come to class. esp in biotech where grades are so inflated and still having 7?
M: no i just dont really care about bio at all. like i just care about math and cs.
P: but your courses? placements and stuff?
M: im not gonna take placements, im going to do a startup of my own
P: but startups might fail
M: nah, mine wont
Then he asked me how i learnt all this stuff whered i go to school etc.
And he dropped me to my hostel
This was a really cool experience lmao, like so fun haha. loved it.
anyways right now tho im going to sleep. gotta wake up and get to work. like straight to work man. 5 months thing is so real. like i really belive this is my life man. it really is lets go. Its time to achieve all my dreams right here man. im going to dropout and im going to dropout SO fuckign soon. i need this shit man. 5 months. 5 months to change my life. lets go.
btw one funny thing was when i was explaining my solution for problem 5, the $\sigma + \phi$ problem; when i told him my solution, he was like i dont think this works cos then it would hold for any arbitrary functions f and g. and just right now i proved that this does indeed hold for "arbitrary" f and g lmao.
Ok let me sketch my proof of the
$\sigma(n) + \phi(n) \ge 2n$ with equality case proof right here.
infact here is my generalisation.
Consider two multiplicative arithematic functions $f,g$ such that $f(n) \ge g(n)$ with equality iff $f=g$
Also assume that $f(p^a)+g(p^a) \ge 2p^a$ for all $p$ prime and $a$. with equality iff $a \le 1$.
Then $f(n)+g(n) \ge 2n$ for all n.
Clearly $f=\sigma , g=\phi$ satisfies this so this is a generalisation of the above problem.
Do strong induction, so assume for $k=1,2,\cdots n-1$
if $n=p^a$ then you're obv done.
Else, write $n=a*b$ with $(a,b)=1$ and $a,b >1$
Define $x(n)=\frac{f(n)}{n}$ and $y(n)=\frac{g(n)}{n}$
Clearly by induction; $x(k)+y(k) \ge 2$ .
So write:
$x(a)+y(a) \ge 2$
$x(b)+y(b) \ge 2$
Multiply these equations , let the left hand side equal $z$.
$z=(x(a)*x(b) + y(a)*y(b))+(x(a)*y(b)+x(b)*y(a)) \ge 4$
Now noting that $x(k) > y(k)$ ; by the rearragnement inequality, the first bracket is strictly bigger than the second one, namely;
$(x(a)*x(b) + y(a)*y(b))>(x(a)*y(b)+x(b)*y(a))$
So now, you get
$2(x(a)*x(b) + y(a)*y(b)) > z \ge 4$ and now noting that $x(a)*x(b) =x(ab)$ and same for $y$ we get that
$x(ab)+y(ab) > 2$
and we're done yay
